The Affiliation Strategy for The New Millennium

* Youth Cricket * Grant Aid * Women's and Girls Cricket * Development Plans
* Facility Development * Disability * Coaching.

Silver Affiliation

This will entitle the club by application to the ECCB for assistance with any
two of the Gold affiliation initiatives

Bronze Affiation

This will cover the Affiliation to the Board for a club not requiring any other help.
This will be the affiliation available to schools

The Reason Why

The work of the paid employees and voluntary workers of Essex County Cricket Board if differentiated according to the need of the Club. In practice this means that some Clubs get a significant amount of attention, some get less help and the rest get little help, aside of the bulletin or other general advice.

In 1997 a Club paid an affiliation fee of £15 per team to the NCA and £10 per team to the ECA plus a District Association subscription. When the ECB and the ECCB were set up, the former set up an affiliation fee for 1998 of £10 per club, all of which was to be retained by the new County Boards which had a discretion to charge a fee of their own. In Essex we decided that there would be no further fee at that time, although Clubs would continue to pay their District Association subscriptions

This means the Board gets an income from affiliation of £3000 to £4000. This is the only potential income to the Board aside of a grant from the Foundation. This grant is targeted at the development of youth. The Development of the District Cricket Boards will increase the need for pump priming funding and there is major potential for a fresh look at affiliation to derive a more realistic level of funds to assist this process. The level of affiation funds at the moment would not serve this purpose.
